Hello All,

I have had my 2003 325i about 2 months, and I have noticed that after starting the car each morning I notice that when I leave my parking space the engine revs high but the car barely moves at all. I called BMW and they said that this is expected when the car is cold, and it is due to the "Ultra low" emmissions qualification that the car has. Any launch from a stanf still after the initial one is fine. Has anyone else experienced this?

TIA,

-Carl

The engine does make less power when it's cold since the cylinder walls are closer to the piston and generate more friciton, more friction means less power. The rpms are also kept higher than usuall so the engine does not stall. BTW you should rev the engine too high when it's cold, try to go as easy as you can on it. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think those are the reasons.
