Today I saw 2 BMW 3 Series and a Porsche going 5 under the speed limit, I mean come on it is an insult to drive those cars slow. These cars are ment to be driven fast, my question are you deserving to be driving a BMW or did you just have money to burn? Are you ruining the BMW name?

Coming back from visiting my relitives I was maintaining a constant speed of 80-90 for 2 hours, no breaks, just high speed (constantly watching for cops) driving.[fake]

This was freeway driving, I always slow way down in the city[paranoid]

I have had so many speeding tickets that I am scared to speed anymore. I used to step on it whenever I get in my car, I mean, come on, what's the V8 for??? The last time I got stopped was 2 tickets within 3 months, both high speed, one at 98 over 70 and the other at 105 over 70 (actually I was doing more). I had to go to driver improvement school to avoid the points! I was with all those people in the class who look like bumps, drunks, teenagers, rednecks! It was embarrassing. That's why I always think twice now before I step on it.

BUT....I never drive at speed limit, always 5 to 15mph over, that is kinda quite safe as the cops usually don't bother to stop you with those speeds over the limit. And if you are on the highway, and thinking of tailing a speeding car, you had better give a good half mile gap, the cops are getting smarter now. A quarter mile is not good enough anymore, I always see cops in pairs, they'll go after both cars! One time I saw 6 FHP cars stopping speeding cars on a 2 mile stretch!!! Scared the shit out of me.

Oh, and I can't stand Mercedes drivers! 9 out of 10 will be in the way of everyone! They just can't drive! Has anyone else noticed this about Mercedes drivers?

"the class who look like bumps..." They look like bumps? I think you ment bums. lol

I have not noticed much about Mercedes drivers but I have noticed that Camery drivers are horrable, not the old ones but like 99 on. I guess a lot of mothers and old people buy the new ones and are bad drivers, the older ones tipicaly are owned by lower income people and kids and dont drive that bad.

The Germans used to say that Mercedes drivers thought their cars came with Title and Deed to the road.[fake] [driving]

And I love having acceleration again. No more needing two miles of open road to pass someone. [:D] Haven't had this much fun since I sold the crotch-rocket. [thumb]

Most BMW/Mercedes drivers in my area just buy the cars for the luxury...they don't really care about the performance. A lot of young 3-series owners just like to have their cars to show-off...pretty gay.

I agree with with MrE... most of the people in this area do buy Mercedes and generally the 5 & 7 for luxury. Most of the people who drive the 3 series are much younger, and usually drive them because their parents either bought it for them, or they want it to show off.

what about those people who progress through the cars learning driving skills in each and are just learning the F/R skills on the bimmer before going up to a faster more powerful car??? they don't always go out and "choose" a bimmer its just the right setup at the right price?[;)]

An interesting thing that I notice is those with the nicest and fastest cars are the most mellow on the road. I drive to work with a few 911’s a Boxster, a G35 Coupe, and a black M3 convertible. These are the cars that catch my attention and I notice them on a farily regular basis.

The interesting fact is that they are all very mellow in their daily commute. Usually it is far more common, based upon my experience, to see a 95 HP Saturn driving like an idiot trying to cut people off to get a better position.

I guess the people that can afford the 911's, the G35, the M3, and so on are intelligent and have it together. They enjoy life; they enjoy nice things, and may cut loose every now and again. Chances are they have not achieved what they have by being stupid. I am sure the same cannot be said for the Saturn guy I see on my way to work that must do whatever necessary to get ahead in traffic, but I guess this (driving like a foolish idiot) is his way of making up for his shortcomings.

I agree with you guys 99% of the time. However every once in a while you will see some @ss in a porsche (for example) zipping through traffic cutting everybody off driving just as bad as the kids in the saturns do.
