What do you guys and girls think the greatest Sci-fi flick of all time is? Since I started I will go first..

Blade Runner was #1 on my list, but now it's #2. I have to go with The Matrix (first movie only). I like movies that throw in the altered state of conciousness twist, and The Matrix mastered it.

I concur, I think it transformed movie making. More and more movies are using the special effects that they seem to have brought into the mainstream.

1) Star Wars Episode IV

2) Matrix 1

3) Alien 1

4) E.T.

I wasn't a big fan of Blade Runner. I think reading too many of the books by the old masters of sci fi ruined the movie for me. hard to beat the book. Kinda how Starship Troopers is utter crap compared to the book.

I'm down for all 4 of those for sure in my top 10 as well, in that order even. 12 monkeys is a incredibly underrated movie, awesome to watch, and before you know it, it makes more sense then the first 60 minutes of confusion could ever hope to reverse. Have to toss in Enemy Mine, certainly 2001: Space Oddessy, 12 monkeys, Predator (come on, you gotta admit even Arnold couldn't dull this one).. have to think about the rest.

Well for me it would have to be in this order:

1. Star Wars IV, V, AND VI..(THEY GO TOGETHER SO DONT EVEN ARGUE...JUST 3EPISODES TO MAKE A SIX HOUR MOVIE)

2. ALIEN(not Aliens 1 like someone wrote it was called Alien and thats how you tell it apart from the rest!....That movie actually scared-the part when he is in the tunnel shaft and cant see anything? damn!)

3. Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan(now this is what huge starships battling in space should be like!)

On a last note......and I know i will get razed for this but the "Matrix" was waaaaaaay overrated. Dont get me wrong I have all 3 movies but...it just didnt do it for me...I mean did they watch the MIB credits and come up with that brilliant idea and mix a little neo(no pun intended)buddhism and lord knows what else(dianetics maybe?) to get the sci-fi fan boys in a frenzy?

And that ends my list![thumb]
