well the otherday i was havin trouble with my alarm system, so i called my mechanic he had it towed to his shop cause i couldn't start it due to the aftermarket alarm. soooooo i find out that the aftermarket alarm fried a lot of the wires in the car. and then i found out the water pump went as they were working on it. also before i bought the car from this ASSHOLE. he didn't inform me that there were no AIRBAGS in the ****in car so if i got into an accident the flaps would go up and have a potential of hitting me in the face without the airbags to go with them.... sad day, very sad day...

very sad indeed, put don't worry the flaps are opnened by the power of the airbag if i am not mistaken. no airbag, no flaps.

do you know where that guy lives? well then go there and blow him up like your airbags normally should do to show him what you are missing.

what do you intend to do? replace the parts or get a new car?

right now the car is being fixed...... after that my dad is going to take the car off my hands and sell his 89 735. because i'm going to Boot Camp for the marines nov 10th... so it works out..

yeah i wish, he installed the aftermarket alarm also that cock sucka he messed up all the wiring in my car and i just called my mechanic the fuel pump isn't working properly WOOOOOHOOO great news for me

ahhh crap, my engine does idle rough.... lol so it's basically telling me to check if it says alusil and not nikasil.... i'll go to the shop to ask my mechanic to check it out.... my car isn't under warrenty how much would it cost to fix that shit..? lol

You may need a new short block. In essence, a new engine. $6k minimum. Probably more like $8-10k. Understand that your car may not fail for another 60k miles, if ever, but you need to check your compression. Have the mechanic do a leakdown test of each cylinder. You may be able to get BMW to pick up the repair, but no guarantees, particularly if it is a car with spotty history that has changed hands a number of times.

If the car is an automatic, the transmission probably won't last more than 120k miles. They are another notorious weak point. That is why the 1993-1995 740s and 1994-1995 540/530 are such a deceptively good value in the used car market. The transmission will probably set you back $4k.

To those in the know, a nikasil engined 540i automatic with a bad tranny is worth around $5k at most.

Also, the no airbag thing sounds very sketchy. Either they were pulled and sold from the car, or the car was in an accident and not fixed properly. Something tells me this car has a bad history.

I hope you got a hell of a deal on the car, because it sounds like you MAY have $10k in repairs to put it right.

Don't get too alarmed, but find a good BMW repair shop and figure out what you bought. It would have been a better idea to learn about these things BEFORE you bought the car, but you'll know better next time. Good luck.
