MyHarley got me thinking about posting a few things here - this sounds like a joke but this IS a true story that happened in my extended family.

My cousin and his wife wanted to go on a 2 week cruise, but they had a sick, blind, old dog. The dog needed a lot of care and was in a lot of pain. They decided twice to have the dog put to sleep, but each time cancelled the day before because they couldn't bear to do it. Shortly after that the dog actually got a bit better and stabilized, enough that they decided to go on the cruise.

My cousin called his son-in-law and asked him to take care of the dog while they were gone, usually other daughters in the family did this but they were not available. He anwered "You want ME to take care of the dog?" and my cousin answered, "Yes, I'd like you to take care of the dog - is that a problem?" . He replied no, he could take care of the dog.

When my cousin got back from the trip, they got home and the dog wasn't there, so they figured it was at the son-in-law's house. They called him and asked him to bring the dog home. He paused and said "It's at the vet." Alarmed, my cousin asked what happened, the dog must have taken a turn for the worse while they were away. Son-in-law replied "Uhhh, you told me to TAKE CARE OF THE DOG, so I did! The vet put it to sleep last week....." [80?]

Needless to say, that's NOT what my cousin meant by "Take care of the dog"!
