Actually since this is representing your braking skills on a highway if you want your TRUE reaction time you should press "start", depress your right mouse button and then wait for the red light and switch and press the left mouse button
Actually you should tape your mouse to the wall, and hit the stop button with your foot. Especially considering the fact that the reaction time between your head and feet is almost 2x slower than your hands.
