Granted I'm a SAAB fan and what-not and I love my new car...

...there's something about my old E30 that I miss alot. Sure my 9-5 is a fun car to drive and the turbo makes merging onto the freeway a breeze, but there's something about the driver involvement of a BMW that I miss.

I could feel what the car was thinking in my old 325i. The sport seats hugged you just right and the grunt of that inline-6 is awesome. I don't know, I think I mainly miss RWD over FWD in turns. It's just not the same in the Saaby. [:(]

Although, I do love the whine of the turbo and the ergonomics of the car, et cetera.

Anyway, I'm just rambling. Just wanted to vent this. Me-thinks I'm catching the flu and I'm all cooped up on flu medicine right now. Later all... [wave]

Haha, I drove my friend's E46 the other day, I'd still take the way the E30 drives.
Definitely. My friend Jon (Jon E36 who recently joined the forum) just bought an E36, and its an AWESOME car. I told him I wish I could afford an E36, and still keep my E30.

i came across this same topic on another site and didnt quite understand when they were saying that the e30 is just somthing special...

...how the e30 is less refined, less power, noisier, doesnt handle as well as some better/newer cars and yet is still .... special.

you really have to just be an e30 owner to understand the meaning of it all!!

Less refined? doesnt handle as well?? I dont know but I think the e30 has the most refined feel of ANY bmw. New bmw's 'censor' the bumps and stuff from the steering. That's not "refined". And the handling thing, well, $1000 of suspension work to an E30 will make it kill $1000 of suspension work to a new BMW.

I feel every bump in the road in mine. My car does not "censor" anything out....

Yeah i find that the steering feel in a lot of the new BMWs is a little anethetised - they seem to add weight to the steering rather than 'feel'. I reckon the lack of a throttle cable in the new BMs is a bit of a let-down too but, damn, i still love to drive my mum's E46 325i manual [headbang]

i agree that the steering feel of the e46 feels a tad bit loose, like i will turn the wheel and there will be a slight hesitation, i find this unattractive
