This board is too divided - there are too many sections!

#1
I love this board but I just think that there are too many different forums here. The number of people that actually use this board can not support all the different sections here, and as a result, lots of threads don't get the attention they deserve and the lack of replies makes the board look very stale and uneventful. I think that if we combine everything to just a few sections such as 3 series, 5 series, 7 series and Other for car discussions and then a general OT area and maybe one classifieds section that the board would be a lot more active and more people would get replies, which would also get new users to join. I just dont see what the point of having 28 seperate secions is when there is clearly not an overload of posts. This board is too divided! Tear down the wall!

I like just looking at Z3 posts sometimes. I like reading about the other cars sometimes, but usually there posts and answers don't apply to my situations.
The BMW newbie and General Off Topic chat sections should be put together if you ask me, though.

Good thread!

What's everyone else think? [???1]

I like it just the way it is. I can go directly to what interests me most, or easily research a topic without a key word search, without weeding through things that don't pertain to me at all. If I'm feeling adventurous, I can check out other forums.

By watching the threads.. I must say that only the e46 and the General section gets posts on regular basis... most people just go there. So its like there are only 2 sections.

I MUST say, I liked how you could see the most recently updated threads on the old board. All you had to do was supply the time frame (i.e. 2 hours old and newer).

The board is very new still, and I think Tom's divided it very well thus far. While it may seem large because of our small (current) member base, when there are more posters I assure you you'll want even more qualifiers! Consider this, if you post something in the e46 3-Series Forum and check back on that thread 30 minutes later, you probably don't wanna' have to scroll through 6 pages of misc threads to find it... [B)] So to manage the amount of threads in a single forum you'd have to make 3 different sections; for instance, we'd have an Electronics, Wheel/Tire, and a Performance Forum underneath the e46 3-series Section to load-balance posts.

In time the board will be too crowded and we'll need more Forums [:D] ...

Well put.

....[offtopic] now is it me, or has the forum gotten more moderators ever since you were able to change the title above your avatar?

I understand where you are coming from Jeff, I'm sure you are aware that we just did a major software change 2 weeks ago and thus we need to give the forum a little time to repopulate itself. [:)]
