Nothing wrong with that site and I used to post there too. It's more concentrated towards the E46 than here. But like Dan stated, you should post there and judge for yourself rather than asking other people's opinion here.
I can give you a simple advice of searching first before posting, there are a lot of members there that will quickly jump down your throat to make it clear.

As the others have said, site is geared almost completly towards the e46. There are a number of people on the board that know their cars VERY well and can help a lot. There are also a few that almost always seem to want to start flame sessions because you didn't spend six hours serching for your answer on the site before you posted your question because is was answered in thread from nine months back.
If you want to be an active member on e46fanatics, expect to spend several hours a day going through posts as it is a very busy board and has a lot of entertaining threads.

It's a very good board, but b/c it has so many members and moves so quick and has so much technical info, if you're a newbie and don't search for a really basic question before posting, you'll get flamed. Basic stuff gets posted tons of times so it gets annoying to the long time posters.
However, if you have a weird or more in depth question, you can get answers quickly. There are quite a few people on there who know much more than the average BMW tech. So, if something is wrong with your car, you post on there and can get a good consensus of what the problem is and what to do within a few hours. I've seen several cases where someone somehow posts from the roadway where they're having car problems (from a cell phone I guess?) and people figure out his problem while he's still stuck and waiting for help.
It's much more newbie friendly here tho and you can talk about other cars than the 3 series.

What to say about E46fanatics that hasn't already been said..
I'm honestly waiting to be banned, I keep trying to egg on the kids and punks over there, every time someone posts asking about clear corners and not OEM clears, I show them pics of mine, and wait for the flaming from all the juvies. I go by there *maybe* twice a week now, just to see who else I can egg on.. (I guess when I had these kids trying to tell me what sorta wheels I have on my car, and I'm holding the damned receipt, that was the last straw..)
E46fanatics is a great resource for E46 owners. If you never read the forums, the technical section itself is worth it's weight in gold for all the DIY writeups. Great vendor resource. You can do a search there and find info on just about anything E46 related. You will however, have to COMB through stacks of worthless emails from (dare I say it again..) Juvies.. My definition of a Juvie - young punk/kid that desperately needs the approval from other folks he talks/hangs with, including his car/online friends. Feels the need to insult/pick on anyone/anything different, and gain approval from his other self-doubting approval needing friends.
It's all about attitude, E46fanatics has more than it's share, BMWboard has it's own type, but MUCH more palatable.
