Well, I was planning on taking my father-in-law for a 3 week trip out to the west coast visiting the Grand Canyon, Vegas, Hwy 1 up through Oregon and Seattle, Salmon ID, my home town and Yellowstone Park. Unfortunatly, he will be leaving to Russia and Germany for work soon and will not be able to take the time off of work.

Other than that, my wife and I are planning on heading out to Vegas in October.

Traveling US 101 down (south) from the north coast of Washington state to the Mexico/California border in the roadster!

Just a side note:

The Grand Canyon is a great place with tons of history and interesting things to learn. The steam train ride is fun and interesting too!

That sounds like a great trip. I did the highway 1 drive about 10 years ago, going from Canada to San Diego. Yellowstone is great and when my kids get a bit older I would like to spend a week in the area.

My first year of college was in Arizona and I loved it. I've been to the Grand Canyon three times (flew over it on one of the trips) and drove over it to go back home on breaks a few times and would still go back. Get off your computer/nintendo/playstation/x-box and look around you once in while. Check out Rte 66 and learn what people went through before freeways came about (go back before cars were even available) -- and that was still living the good life then. There's lots to see and do in Arizona - most of the states actually (though I still havn't found anything exiting in Nebraska).

You want hot???? Sign up for the millitary, and go to Iraq if you want HOT. You'll find hot in more ways than one.

Brian,

Do you like hiking/horse back riding and camping? If so, I would suggest sometime going up to Union Falls in Yellowstone Park. It required overnight camping when I went there last time (scout trip), I don't know if there is anyway it can be done and still enjoy it on one day.

This taken from yellowstone-online.com
The story behind the photo: Union Falls is the second highest waterfall in Yellowstone National Park at 265 feet. However, you cannot drive to Union Falls, nor take a simple hike to Union Falls. It is lodged fairly deep inside backcountry. When you have a summer to spend in Yellowstone, however, these sorts of hikes are possible, and it is possible to do this hike as a day hike provided you don't mind driving over one of the worst roads in the country to get to the trailhead. One day off in 1998, I made a day hike out to Union Falls, and it was one of the most pleasant hikes I ever made in my life. After the lengthy down and up hike to the falls, I found myself in the midst of this amazing waterfalls, formed by the convergence of two rivers. Isn't that really cool? When I got there, a couple other hikers were taking in lunch at the falls, but by the time I took the shot I was the only person in the world looking at this waterfalls which appears like a head of angel's hair. There's nothing like seeing a wonder of the world all by oneself. Here's but a window into my day.

Ok, lame, im not in school so why study history [thumbd] [confused]

Arizona is only a good retire state. This state blows, there is no beach, no entertainment, nothing. Only thing you can do here is go to the mall, or go to the movies. AH RETARTED! [fake] [fake]

All these ugly cactus', scorpions, HEAT [xx(] is what makes arizona so unattractive [chair]

btw, what college did you go to?

I agree.

Example why his statement sucks:

I'm not going to be a mechanic EVER in my life, never ever going to do anything like that -- but I'm teaching myself how to do stuff on cars.

I go to Gettysburg PA, to see the battlegrounds... and I don't plan on being a tour guide or going to school for history.

I've been to art museums; and I definitely don't plan on being an art major!!

You've got some screws loose in your head kid.

The Grand Canyon is on my list of vacations that I MUST take. Jeez, some people can spend time away from society (parties, drunken brawls, etc.) and actually enjoy it! Plus I hear Arizona has some nice roads. [clap]
