ok im still a bit shaken up from it but here goes,

me and my friend were pulled well over on a road (with plenty of space to pass) several cars passed as we talked the a car HIT my friend. hes ok just bruised and cut. so we chase after him and pull him over. i got out (being the lead car in the box) and put my hands up non-confrontationally and said well you've just hit my mate. before i could finish two guys jumped out one pushed me and hit me in the face the other jumped out and took a swing with an iron bar luckily missed. i said **** this and walked away. thinking thats that. then they went over to my friends car punched him in the eye and one ripped out the stereo through the window. i was then threatened by him saying the classic i know where you live and if you call the police bolloks i started up in a hurry the guy with the bar took another swing at my back window. they got off with the stereo. We called the police and went to the police station straight away as we were waiting to be seen the guy turned up in his car right outside the station. well by this time me and my friend literally shat our pants. screamed at the officers for help and about 30 officers descended on the car. and funnyily enough there was no head unit or weapon in the car and the two who did the assulting wern't there. well statements were taking and we had a chat and have decided not to persue it any further for our own personal (and cars) safety. its a real shitter he lost a £400 stereo head unit. the chances of getting a conviction or getting it back are slim to none and even if they did catch them and had the stereo they'd not be sent down out of harms way from us. We got our CIN so the insurance should pay out. all we wanted was a damned apology and then this happened.

I feel very guilty as it was my idea to chase after them and i made the move to pull them over. i feel responsible for replacing the head unit. What would you do?? I said i'll pay the excess on the insurance (£50-£150) or if the insurance say no go halfs with him on a new one. again what would you do?

If you really feel bad about it I would offer to replace the head unit. This would be a very nice jester on your part and it would show your friend how badly you felt about the situation.

As for the hit-and-run; can’t the police do something to the driver of the car for that? I mean, he hit your friend, drove away, and then proceeded (with help from his friends) to steal his stereo. You would think the police could file charges on the hit-and-run.

Man, sorry to hear that. So while you and your friend were just standing on the side of the road, those guys in the car drove into your friend??? I don't really understand that part.
It was good of you to try to let it go and just walk away, even after they hit you. Too many people have guns nowadays, you don't want to challenge them. Sorry to hear what happened, and I'm glad you and your friend are alright...there are some real assholes in this world.

Shit sorry man, that really does suck. I don't know what I would do. Whenever I go somewhere with friends I'm usually with about 5-6 people so that keeps assholes at bay. If I were you though I probably would have done what you did - chased them down, and gotten my ass kicked. But in the process of getting my ass kicked I would memorize the plate number. Later on I would probably plan for about 1 month on how to completely destroy whoever it was' life, and probably try my best to do so. I'm seriously thinking about getting a permit to carry a Glock or something, too many of those Mustang-driving mediocre morons live around me.

If what goes around comes around, I might as well be what comes around.

Before you get a gun, just remember three things:
1) You NEVER use a gun to threaten or intimidate someone, no matter what the circumstances.
2) You must only ever use it for self defense when you LIFE is in IMMINENT danger.
3) You must have the balls to follow through with #2 if necessary, even if it means killing someone.

If you carry a gun to make yourself feel safe, but question your ability to do any of the three above things, DON'T carry a gun! You probably are in MORE danger if you do carry it.

Just my .02 worth. Note that this is NOT an anti-gun statement. It is just the hard facts.

Just get a bb gun, spring or gas powered. My friend has 2 rifles and hand gun, the rifles are spring powered, the hand gun is gas. All 3 "tools" were able to destroy a pretty thick vodka bottle. I really like the hand gun as it looks very real and even weighs like a real gun, there is a label on it that says "This is not a toy"[hihi] [target]

cheers guys. i still feel shit though, dinan55 we got the plate and because of who my family are we have the connections. trouble is i don't want this guy killed. or as my dad put it would you like me to get his head delivered to you on a platter[80?] im not like that and with the world the way it is its either death or nothing.

I did call tha police but we talked to the officer (and were concerned about them hunting us down as they took MY number plate) and he basically said because the assult was so minor he would basically have to have a record the size of a football field to actually get anything done. i would then have to go to court and be constantly looking over my shoulder. they also can't get the HU back as like the officer said to me we uphold the law and punish those who brake it not recover property!! go figure. ironically if i had stayed and had the shit kicked out of me all 3 would be in jail tonight. the police made me feel safe but gave me no garantees that ,even if they were cought red handed, they could get released straight away. was not worth the hassle IMO.

That's why I carry a gun (I have a permit). What Kirby said is right, but when someone takes a swing at you with a tire iron it is definately putting your life in danger. Carrying a gun does mean a lot of extra precautions, including not putting yourself into those kind of situations. With that said, I probably would have done the same exact thing that you did. I imagine the outcome would have been a lot different, but that is what makes it very, very scary.

That’s good way to get yourself killed. You pull a toy (yes a BB gun is a toy) on someone, you're asking for a world of hurt. If the person you pulled BB gun does indeed own a gun him/herself they would have just cause to pull it out and blow your brains out. IMO, if you are going to pull any weapon that resembles a gun, you should know damn sure what you are doing (as Kirby has already stated) and don't pull it out unless it is the real thing.

To many people buy guns to carry for show/scare off tactics only to be killed by someone who really means business when they pull theirs out. We have to be careful out there these days. To many psychos/freaks running around loose.

Thats a good point.

I was looking at it from a different perspective - what I'm saying is that if you DO use the weapon, you won't likely kill the person, so you won't have to go to jail[thumbd]

What would be better than a real gun is if you had one of those non-lethal shotguns that shoot small sandbags at 200mph. At least then you can shoot away and nobody will die, it might be amusing too.
