Taking a drive up Mulholland. Stopping at one of the overlooks. Asking there as the sun sets. Then dinner at Yamashiro's, overlooking the city and the Hollywood Bowl.

I'll post pics of the ring later. Prolly after this weekend. It's a round brilliant 1.37 D color VVS2 Ideal cut stone on a platinum 4 prong tiffany style solitaire setting.

She said yes!

It didn't go exactly to plan, but it was ok. She got home late so I didn't make it up there by sunset. Still, the night view was gorgeous. It was funny cuz when I got to the outlook area, it was deserted. So, I left the xenons on. But, 2 seconds after that, a billion cars pulled in. So, we wandered around until they left and then I propsed. It was a gorgeous view 360 degrees around. Then a nice romantic dinner where the view was almost as good.

She actually couldn't see the ring very well until we got home. But once in the garage, under the brigh flourescent lighting, she was like, "DAMN!"

Thanks for all the support guys!

She was expecting something (hey, it's been almost 7 years), but I had her fooled into thinking it was coming around New Years. The tough part was the actual day. She got all suspicious cuz I she said she was going to Costco with a friend and I said to come straight home. But, I played it off saying I was taking her to a restaurant for our X-mas celebration. She bought it (helped cuz I got lost), and when we arrived at the lookout, she was totally surprised.

Congrats dude and good luck. Did you get down on your knee when you proposed? Just curious if people still do that...[thumb]

Congrats on the proposal. I have been pondering this same thing for some time now but I think I may put it off for another year or so. First, not that many funds for the ring I want to give to her and second, we still have a lot of graduate school left. Again, congrats and the best of luck to you both.

Yup, down on one knee. She couldn't really see me very well tho cuz it was too dark. Couldn't see the ring either, particularly since the box was black. But yeah, girls dig the whole down on one knee thing, particularly if it's in a romantic spot. You don't have to worry about the speech too much I don't think. Something semi-romantic will do.
