Amateur? Pro? What instrument(s) do you play? Why kind of tunes? In a band?

I'll get things started. I play guitar, sax and harmonica. Rock & Roll and Blues mostly. Some Punk. I've played in several bands over the years, some with weekly gigs, some just for fun at private parties. I'm currently not in a band, not enough free time right now, but I'm still noodling around when I get a few free moments. I do it just for the fun.

A band shot from a few years ago, me playing sax; and my Gibson Les Paul photoshopped into Stevie Ray Vaughn's picture from "Live at Carnegie Hall" CD.

Did you ever consider playing guitar? If you played violin, you've got a really good foundation. And just 'cuz you sucked at violin doesn't mean you can't play guitar. Violin is tough - no frets. I picked up a violin and tried it once - I sucked REALLY bad!!! If you played 4 years, you hung in there pretty good!

I play guitar a little, no professional but was once invited to join a band and didn't go, don't remember what was the reason. My dad also plays guitar but he likes collecting them better, lol. His current collection consists of one 12 string acoustic, 1 really old Gibson Spirit II, 1 Squire strat, 1 classical, two 6 string acoustics and one 6 string acoustic/electric. His dream is an Epiphone LP that looks exactly like your Gibson.
I bought myself a cheap little Kramer with a Floyd Rose and thought it was pretty good until I tried that Spirit, wow, Gibson makes awesome guitars.
The amp we use is a Fender 25R. Probably a little too loud for playing at home but the quality at low volume is pretty good.

Love listening to music, playing musics not really my thing though. I might try it if they had quitar lessons at school, but they just have band and orchestra instruments. either way, thanks.

I've been playing guitar for a little over 1 year. I love it and have always played atleast an hour a day or more. I've got a standard Fender Fat Strat and a 1960's Alamo tube amp with a russian Big Muff - Pi distortion pedal. I used to use the computer as an amp and effects box but the tube amp has such a warmer sound than my computer or a regular guitar amp :)

The Line 6 amps are REALLY nice. I've looked at them, if I ever get a solid state amp they will be at the top of the list. IMHO, the LP Studio plays just as good as the LP Standard. They are a nice guitar.

I used to play a Fender Mexican Standard, but I have big hands and the neck was a little small for me. I tried the bigger neck Fenders (like the SRV and Clapton models) but it still didn't feel right. Then I tried the Les Paul and that was it.

The Les Paul/Marshall purists think I'm goofy. I don't use a Marshall. I play with a silver face Fender Twin Reverb. Not the typical amp to use with an LP but I like the sound I get. If I want to make it really dirty I use a Boss Overdrive pedal with it.

That sounds like a nice setup! The lead player in a band I was in (I played rhythm) played a Fat Strat and a Tele with Seymour Duncans. I always liked his Fat Strat sound the best. [thumb]

I play guitar, bass, a bit of keys, I own a Yamaha Electronic drum kit I fool around with, and program MIDI drums. I have a full Band set up , PA, Roland Synth, Electronic drums, bass rig, and two guitar rigs. I use Roland guitar amps and GK for the bass. I have a simple Carvin PA, best bang for the buck in my opinion. I have 7 guitars. A Black Epiphone Sheraton II, A small body Guild Acoustic, An Ibanez Bass, 74 Gibson Les Paul DeLuxe, Maple Top and 83 Fender Elite Strat(A kinda weird rare model) With a MIDI pick up for a guitart synth, A Tom Anderson Classic, and my favorite, A Tom Anderson Hollow T. It's my Avatar. It looks like a Tele. I've played alot of different types of music from Blue Grass to Classic Rock, to a band that just did British Invasion to Be Bop Jazz in school, To an original Progressive rock band that I was in for a long time. Now I play whatever the guys that I invite to come over to play, but my tastes run from jazz/fusion ala Tribal Tech, Lost Tribe, Screaming Headless Torsos to Funk and Old style english art rock. I love all kinds of music and I adhear to the adage " There are only two types of music, Good and Bad" I don't like or dislike anything because it's a certain "style" or "label"

P.S. I'm not too passionate about this subject LOL

Regards

I use a Tech 21 Sans Amp. It is the best distortion pedal I ever used, and you can go directly into a board with it. It's really an Amazing box. I can make My Anderson Classic into a Roland JC 77 sound like a 69 Les Paul on a Marshal Stack with it. You know that crunch?

I used to listen to them some time ago but with age my musical tastes shifted to hard rock.

Ever watched The Wizard of Oz and listened to Dark Side of the Moon? The one thing that freaked me out is the suicide of one of the cast members cought on tape in far forest.

It's funny, I used to listen to hard rock when I was younger but since about 2 years ago I've listened to nothing but classic rock; Pink Floyd being my favorite.

Yes I have watched that :) I wanted to make sure everything was perfect so I rented the DVD and compressed it into 4GB XviD (lossless) and spliced it with the Dark Side of the Moon WAVs since I already had the original CD. Brought the new DVD upstairs and watched it on my 63" HDTV with a pretty decent surround sound setup - It was awesome [:D]

A few months ago they released the 30th eddition of the Dark Side of the Moon which is encoded in 5.1 AC3 so I plan to get one of those to replace the old stereo soundtrack, should be awesome [thumb]

That never happened and it was a myth. It was just simply the way the shadows looked in the background. Get a screen cap of it and I'll believe it...

Oh yea i've been playing the french horn since 4th grade (8 years now), i used to be very into it, but its not my thing anymore.

yep, i nearly bought a tech 21...except i found the Vetta and became hooked; it has everything ever needed, ever.....ha. They just released another update for the software, which adds 2 or 3 more amps and 3 more effects......the best part is, when you buy any line 6, it is fully compatible with any software you can put on it.....(i.e. if you buy a v. 1.01 vetta and upgrade it to a v.2.02, then it will be fine)

i love my amp......[thumb]

Will try to find a clip.

Pretty much everyone is talking about this one. OK, if you haven't heard a million times already, there is a scene in the classic movie, "The Wizard of Oz", where you can supposedly see someone hang themselves in the background. The strange occourence can be seen a few minutes (in the same scene) after the Wicked Witch is standing on top of the Tin Woodsman's house and throws a fireball at the Scarecrow. Then the witch leaves and the trio spend an unnessassary amount of time discussing things. Then they all start skipping down the yellow-brick road. OK, here's the time to watch. In the background, on the upper left side in the woods, there is something going on. What most people believe is that this is a bird in the background lifting up it's wings behind a tree. Another theory is that a set-person got stuck in the background, tried to hide behind a tree and then tried to cover his tracks and run off hte set. But the third theory, the one that deep inside everyone really wants to believe, is that there is something more.......unexplained going on. If you watch, we see that the Scarecrow, the one closest to the action, quickly looks in that general direction for a brief second. Some argue that if he looked that way and saw something like that going on, he surely would have gotten someone to stop it. But we still can't tell if he is looking right at that action or not. Weather if someone committed this act on camera or a bird was out for a stroll, we'll probabaly never know for sure.
