I think part of the issue is the difference in languages.

In English it's Bimmer, as in TIM, JIM, etc.

But in German the letter I is pronounce like the English letter E.

The German alphabet is pronounced:
A=Ahhh, B=Bay, C=Say, D=Day, E=Aaaa, F=Eff, G=Gay, H=Hah, I=Eee, J=Yut ......

so IN GERMAN the word Bimmer *would* be pronounced BEEMER.

Beemerworld, Wadula, other Germans here, am I right??
That sounds like plausible explanation. [thumb]

I can’t remember hardly any German and at one time I could actually make out a fair amount of the language. I blew it in my younger years through late teens when I had a ton of chances to spend time in Germany being that I had family there. Any yea, I am like the only person in my family that has not been there, even my grandparents would go for 3-6 months at a time. What an idiot I was. [?|]

Didn't we sort this out last month?
Not as well as this month though.
I'll still visualise motorcycle, but won't flame now that I've had "language101". But I think someone is going to get "nailed" once in a while!!
WE now understand what's up. I just think those without a fair language background (me for example) will keep writing that a BEEMER is a motorcycle. (I did last month, with some others)
Something scooter will just have to live with. And if I forget-and flame....shut me up, and remind me of the idiosycrasies vis-a-vis BEEMER. (it will keep me quiet until the next time I forget)
