Doesn't the 959 have perfect weight balance? Some people say it's the best Porsche ever built, especially for that time. I don't about other people but I would love to have that one.
I would be surprised if the 959 has 50/50 weight balance, given the engine and drivetrain (half) are in the rear, but ICBW.
It was certainly the best Porsche of the 1980s. It is only recently that Porsche is building a roadgoing car that is faster (top speed, the Turbo 3.6, 993 Turbo S and 911 GT2 can probably out-accellerate it by a tick or two).
There are a few in the US. Bill Gates has one, and his desire for the 959 was a major factor in the passage of the Show and Drive legislation that now allows virtually anything in the US, if you keep it off the streets.
For the money, I would probably go Ferrari F40 or perhaps a 288 GTO (so beautiful), but I couldn't see owning one without at least six or seven other cars in the 'garage' and that is not going to happen anytime soon.
As for the most beautiful car of all time, very difficult question. My vote may be the 288 GTO.
