harleys became fashion bikes in the last years, midlife crisis males, lawyewrs doctors etc. drive them to be "young" again. no joke, for real. the average harley driver at the moment never even broke a lwa when he was 18 or 19...no more outlaw here...the old one's, the original one's of course are a totally different story though[:D]
They're definitely fashion statements or social status symbols. They're not what they used to be. Maybe they make them different now from how they used to, but Harley's (from my understanding) are always "in the shop".

IMO, Harley's aren't worth the price you pay. If you're going to pay $20,000 for a bike, you might as well get something custom instead of mass produced. Just an opinion, though.

Ever see the buell bikes?

the frame of the bike is also the gas tank (up top) and the entire frame is useful for more than just holding the bike together and supporting the rider.

If I ever buy a sport bike, i'll buy that buell there. I think the styling is not as outragious as some of the other sport bikes -- and it's not capable of going 200+mph

Thats a hot bike. I like the looks of a Ducati more, but if I got a bike I wouldn't want one that goes 200+ because I'd die the first day.

heh exactly my reasoning. Plus i dont want a bike that looks so outragious that just screams *STEAL ME!!*

But i do like the way the buell bikes have that "Wasp" look to them...the xenon headlights are cool too.
