Kirby, I'm all for SUV's...my family has two of them (ML500 and RX300) and we have damn good uses for them. In my opinion, lots of SUV's out there are really big and cool. My only problem is with the H2; I simply see no purpose for their existence except as a status vehicle. I have a feeling that most NJ-based H2 owners will never take their H2's off-pavement and it is simply used to look cool and rich in their car...but in fact, they look like a complete idiot because the H2 is the ugliest SUV out there, and really just looks like a big Tonka toy truck (especially in that yellow color).

I spit in the faces of H2 owners. I also think its a status thing, its "I want to be different" urge "no matter what the cost"... "I don't case how load, ugly or stupid my ride is.... people will think I am all that because I am driving THIS car!!"

Agreed, Pushakov. The Escalade does that job well...very presenting vehicle. But the H2...I don't know, it's just so UGLY and boxy. I don't understand, don't the owners see that the H2 is ugly? I mean it definitely IS a status vehicle, but it's just so ugly !!!

" spit in the faces of H2 owners", why all this hatred, it's an automobile, big deal. Push, you don't think we BMW owner's are in some way or another into the status thing, or because we want to be different? I own a BMW for many reasons, some of which some H2 owners use as logic as well. I own the roadster because it's reliable, fast, cool, and unique in some ways. But I also feel good in it? Is this status? I own our 750il because it's big, comfortable, fast, handles well, and safe in an accident? Any status in that? I own the 318is because I like it, and bought it from the first owner, my brother, and it too is unique in some ways. This thread started about domestic violence groups, ELF and PETA protesting big gas hoggin cars. I think we have respolved that these groups are shallow, small minded and ignorant.

I think hatred of a car, or groups of owners because they drive a specific car is also ignorant.

In the early eighty's a tax break was passed to help buisness owners. A vehicle over 8000lbs would be a tax deduction, up to 100% if used full time for the buisiness. Back then small dump trucks or utilitys truck fit this catagory. Today several of these SUV's are in this 8000lb bracket. So if your a buisiness owner you can write off up to 100% of your huge SUV.

I have several motorcycles myself but prefer to drive my 325 to work & back and most everywhere I go. I also have a big 1 ton 4X4 with a 454 to pull a trailer, it's rarely driven but a nessessity when it's needed. Might be selling it soon as most of the work is finnished I had been using it for.

It's been said "the bigger the vehicle, the worce the driver" with the exception of over-the-road-drivers. I've almost been plowed over on a motorcycle by a big SUV while stopped at a red light. Had to run the light to save my life, just lucky to have caught a glimps in the mirror of him not looking where he was going.

There are reasons for owning these big vehicles. But for daily transportation? The parking lot where I work is 90% trucks & SUV's. Parking between these 20ft long extended cab monsters isn't safe. It looks like an empty spot until you see my car wayyyy back in there. Most of these big truck owners enjoy the prestige' of driving a bigger truck then his buddy. Women like the security in case of an accident, or they "think" they are safer in them.

Property taxes in Kansas are the highest in the country. With Fed money gone, most states are looking for "creative" alternatives for fleecing the public to make up for their excessive spending. In three or so years there will be no more tax breaks. WHere is this going? I have no idea but I'm hoping to be out of Kansas in five years. IS there a better State out there???

well, no most likely you WOULDNT have flipped in a car. A car can also react better than an SUV, one becuase of the momentum.

ok your coming of an off ramp your doing 60mph.....you go up a hill then on the other side of the hill you drop down and there is a sharp right turn that banks the wrong way....you hit your brakes and try to turn right......your rear end slipes out.....your driver side tire hits the dirt and your car goes flying.....it lands on the drivers side fron end then rolls back over to become up right.......the passenger side isnt even touched .......

I went and saw the suv and it was hard not to cry.......there was no room on the drivers side the A-pillar hit the wheel and pushed the dash down an inch....all electronics work but the engion is a goner.......

i would love to see you try to exit this ramp.......

I think the insurance company might sue the city because there are no warning or slow down speed sighns...........

I think the cut-off now for tax write-off vehicle for work is 5,000lbs. I know people that use their Lexus LX470 and Range Rover (both around 5,400lbs) for work. But when Lexus first released the GX470, they said it meets the cut-off for tax write-off, but it was all a big mistake and the GX470 (at 4,700lbs) was not heavy enough for tax write-off.
As for the exit ramp, if this was taken in a BMW (like a 3-series or 5-series), the BMW would have spun sideways before flipping over.

These supposed environmentalist groups and other groups like PETA, are just a cover for a gang of wackos and nut jobs. I'm not saying that all the members are crazy, but the ones that do sh*t like this definatly are. Personally I don't like the idea of gas guzzling SUVs, but I'm not going to drive into Detroit and douse an H2 in gasoline! As I said wackos and nut jobs...[confused]

First of all, Just BACK THE HELL OFF. You are bitch slaping my buddy pushakov (who I disagree with on almost anything political) , and you are directing your wrath at a 19 yr old who might just be a weeeee bit impulsive concerning environmental issues--Maybeeee? Sides, Push is one of those tremendous computer whiz kids who may someday set us all straight with these damn computers-and I need all the help I can get. What I would prefer to do, is show you the true light, Jeff. Go to GENERAL CHAT, then click on "Howard Dean RULES!!!" Check what MidwestThom says. I got 50 that says you'll thank me after you realize where that true Al FRANKIN leg humpin,"and gosh darnit, people Like me" liberal posts his misguided anti American $h#t. Big Daddy, I hope you dont BAN my ass for stirring that pot, but I could't resist---I'd give a weeks wages to see Pink Foyd and MidwestThom in a political no holds barred, wrasslin match o' words----Floyd, I'll say your welcome in advance, bud.

Most of the people who drive SUVs don't need them, but many do. They probably don't NEED SUVs, but do we NEED BMWs? We could go buy some Prias's or the Civic Hybrid. To go out and burn something because you don't like it is stupid. Do I go out and burn ricers everyday? I do burn them in a driving way, but not literaly. Where I live, there are two kinds of SUV drivers. There are mostly the weekenders from New York in their H2s, Cayennes, XC90s, MLs, etc. Then there are the farmers who have GMCs and Chevys and Fords. The weekenders might need big four wheel drive cars to haul all of their stuff to there big homes, but they can use any four wheel drive station wagon on the market. The farmers however, they need the cars. They tow trailers, drive through mud on their farms, and carry their workers in them. They couldnt settle for a Ford Focus Wagon, or even a small SUV.
What would happen if those tree huggers somehow got rid of all the SUVs? Think about the people who work in plants making them. Think about the farmers who depend on their SUV.

Dude, first off, you say Push is only 19. well big deal, I'm 16. Either way he is a sheltered little brat. I'm not even going to get started on any kind of discussion about weather or not democrats are better than republicans or howard dean is better that bush. They are all the same, they are all bad for our country. Anyone who thinks electing a democrat or giving control of the house to the democrats would change anything is being ignorant.

About Push being good with computers, who gives a shit. I'm good with computers, and in fact I bet I'm better than he is. What can he do? Order the newest Dell system with Daddy's credit card?

Also, Push, you should know that no one gets rich from being nice. No matter how your parents got their money or your parents parents did someone had to suffer for it. Reading your comments on this board I would have thought that you were a wealthy housewife in her mid-fourties who misses the flower power days of the 60's and has nothing better to do than go online and type out your stupid ignorant comments on some message board where you feel comfortable and accepted.

BTW if you're better than push, then why does he own an internet business?
