I'm curious what sort of dumb things you guys have done, if that's possible.

I'll start off by saying that when I removed my factory amp I messed up my power antenna somehow. I tested to see whether it was getting power, I disassembled the unit, I even inspected the wiring. In the end it was just a fuse!![?|]

does it have to be car related? if so, i pushed my car out of the garage while it was off (its a stick, thus it was in neutral) and didn't take into acoount the small incline of my driveway. it picked up speed pretty quick, but i was able to jump in and slam on the break right as it reached the street. dont ask me whay i was pushing my car out of the garage.....i dont know what i was smoking that day

non car related: practicing my golf swing IN THE HOUSE, smashing a glass coffee table. again, i dont know what i was smoking that day either

I was changing the oil on my '87 Volvo 740. Peeled back that foil seal thingy on the bottle and it tore. Peeled some more off, and half of it disappeared. Looked in the bottle 3 times, around the engine, on the floor, couldn't find it. So I just poured the oil in the funnel.

Yup, the foil came out of the bottle, down the funnel, into the valve cover. [?|] [bigcry] Couldn't see it anywhere inside the valve cover but I KNEW it was there. Now I'm thinking blocked oil journals, etc. etc. It has to come out.

Took off the valve cover & STILL didn't see it. Getting worried - did it go down an oil return journal INTO THE OIL PAN??[?|] [?|] [bigcry][bigcry]

OK, before I panic, check the valve train again. Each cam lobe has an oil bath pool - did it go in one of those? YES - Found it in the pool up under a cam lobe!!!

That was the longest most stressful oil change I EVER did....

Car Related: It just happened today. I was changing the support shock for my hood since I got the replacement in the mail today. My neighbor said "Hey man, you're always doing something with that car of yours!" I went to look up and talk with her and I ended up banging the back of my head on the hood doing so. Heh.

Non-Car Related: I had just gotten out of the shower so I was dripping wet. I went into my room to change and I did some sort of dance and ended up slipping and falling flat on my back. I never knew how slippery carpet could be when your feet are wet. Heh.

Other than that, it's just little stupid things that happen day by day. I can be a clutz sometimes. [8]

I've had a few car related incidents. My first car, an old chevy beater specifically purchased with surfboards in mind, I parked on the beach at low tide and went for a long walk. When I came back it was buried in hard sand up to the axles and water was over the bottom of the doors.

A few years ago I backed my Asto van into my daughters Prelude. I had told her not to park across from the drive-way, but she wouldn't listen. When I woke her up and told her what I'd done, she said "No way. You're just messin' with me 'cuz you want me to get out of bed." She freaked when she found out I wasn't bs'n her.

I often lock my keys in my car, too.

Non-vehicle related...rode a mechanical bull. Five months later I'm still recovering from a broken jaw and teeth shoved into my head.

Car-related:
That's f*cking easy, BUYING MY JETTA. The dumbest thing I have ever done car-related and probably in general.

Non-Car-Related:
Eh, lots of little things...nothing really worth mentioning.

stupidest ever:

fill up my gf´s car with oil. take the bottle, have a short look at it. yes it the bottle stood where it always stood and it looked like the oil can. start filling and wonder why motor oil is light blue and clear??? [:0] [:0] [:0] [:0] aaahhhh

it was just a tiny little bit going in there before i noticed it was wrong somehow. i looked at the bottle a litle closer. it was all in french as the car is a renault and it took me a minute to figure it was not oil but windshield cleaner....[?|] [?|] [?|]

result, not only a fill-up, but a complete change the same day. and carefull reading the next time [rolleyes] [hihi]
