H1 owners are just rich. They don't need a vehicle that big, but they can afford one. I have no feelings about my own personal issues, but I would still own one. H2 owners are just classed in their with the rest of the wretched, excess-be-damned, yuppy freaks that are probably hung like catapillars.

I think there is a lot more than money involved for H2 drivers. Look at the actual price, not much more than a loaded 330cic, or a MB SLK, way less than a MB S, SL, or CL, and around the same price as many well equiped SUV's, look at the price of a well equiped Suburban or Escalade.

I think H2 drivers are pretending to be rich. They are buying what they can that sets them apart, but cannot afford the H1, most MB's, 7's, and so on.

Oops...I take back what I said...the 330cic is MORE expensive than the H2 after the H2 rebates. And Escalade is about $10k more than the H2, but you know it has space and who needs that, H2 drivers must have LITTLE to transport.

I went to the local Hummer dealership on Sunday, there were so many of those darn H2s. I didn't even look at any of them, I even pretended that they weren't there. I was looking at a a nice dark grey H1, now those things are beasts! I mean you look under an H1 and the whole driveline is protected by a cage, on the H2... well it does look like a Tahoe under there.[?|]

I think H2 owners believe that having an H2 will make then stand out b/c it's a hummer. What they fail to realize is that it's a cheap, plastic piece of crap marketed to millions of people, unlike the the H1. One thing that makes mad is that back in Nashville there was this one H2 and it had a decal on the side that said "Hummer Realestate. Call 555-Imadumbass." Ok, I added that last part, but whatever. There was this 40 year old woman not more than 5'4" driving it. Just makes me mad.

H1, huge car, but so unbelievably small on the inside. anybody knows why the middle console is that huge dimensioned?
When they actually started making the civilian H1 they used the frames from military HMMWV's. The ceter console is wide because if certain partitions are removed, it would grant complete access to a fair amount of the drivetrain without removal of the components. Since it is most obviosly not a normal drivetrain, there are also space issues when trying to get the neccesary ground clearance. The trnsmission and other components are pushed up so far, and are so large that the space was needed and they decided to take it out of the interior space. If you look at an H1, the drivetrainnis more similar to that of a four wheeler than that of a truck. Especailly the placement of the brakes. That is why the ground clearance is so tremendous. This is the one thing that set the HMMWV apart from all other vehicles. When they created the H2, they used a true rear axle, therefore making it impossible to get that much ground clearance. That is why the H2 doesn't even deserve the brand Hummer.
