New York/North East blackout

what he said. [fake]dont you think if it were terror related, they would've found out by now?? I think the people at the power companies could detect that. Word is now that it could be a possible hack attack (do not assume it's related to that virus...because it probably is not) or that their systems just overloaded. I would think the latter...

epj: to be quite honest, i didnt even know what was going on when the power went out. i was sittin in my office and all of a sudden i heard this whine and the power went off. it kicked right back on because this part of jersey wasnt that affected, but the radio station i was listening to blacked out too and all i heard was static. then all these special reports came on reporting power outages as far north as canada and as far west as detroit. in the first few mins, without all the details, i thought a terror attack coulndt have been that far off. im sure people that were living in NY who expeirenced an unbelievably awful thing 2 years ago were thinkin the same thing.
seeing as how my county was hit the hardest in NJ in the attacks of september 11, you never what is going on these days

I assumed terrorism when there is an accident on every corner, no electricity accross states and when you make a call it says all lines are busy. With all the shit America is getting into... this is thing might aswell happen.
One good thing about this... Cops won't stop you since they are all busy attending accidents. So you can speed all you want.

I am not sure, but I think this happend about 1000 feet from my house. All i remember is hearing a loud bom from my highschool (about 3 blocks away) and coming home, and having no power, shrapnel in our back yard, and the power company down the street. My mom said she seriously thought one of our neighbor's houses blew up or something-it was that loud ![[eek]](/images/smilies/eek.png "EEK! [eek]")

I didn't even know about all this crap until today. Someone asked me at work if my parents' power was out (they live near Pittsburgh). I said, "how the hell should I know?" I had no clue what they were talkin' about. ....pretty funny, huh? I don't have cable...and my PC was down because of that worm (and a pretty pathetic one at that) so I couldn't check the news online.
