Quickcivicguy, I really have to excuse for some of the replies you got. Somehow i feel really embarrassed. You didn't come here saying anything about honda being better or stuff and never did i read something about you having the typical ricer attitude. In contrary, you stated you are racing the lil civic and provided us with lots of nice information on this board.

And then, some stupid mind comes up, out of a blue moon, and starts a flame war for nothing.

btw, don't refer to "we BMW drivers", i am not your class. I am way different than you and i do not at all and not the tiniest bit want to be like you or even be compared with you! it is so sad to listen to you. bragging about your great income and what a great car you drive is just so much begging for attention that it hurts. unbelievable. keep it stock? yeah right, but the remus was too loud? geeez....

back to you quickcivicdude, just keep on posting here, you fit this community pretty well as you have knowledge and mind. this board is not for bmw solely. it is bmw board, yes, but not only for die hard fans and must-be-bmw-driver guys. fans and people with interest are more than welcome here!

Cheers
Tim

Thanks for the kind words and its no sweat really.....I have posted on a Camaro board for more than 2 years now....it was the same then as well but as time goes on people learn to open their minds.....its all about the cars in my book. There are always a few who need to rip on others to feel better and I try not to waste too much effort on them [hihi] For the most part avg car owners know little about their brand and I wouldnt expect the avg. person to study other brands but.....when you race you end up learning as much as you can about your competition their strong points, their weak points etc...I have learned a great deal about cars just from racing....street driving teaches me alot about people and I can smell a ricer with money a mile away [:o)] RACERS = [thumb] Ricers = [8] And ricers can drive any car....its a pretty universal term these days....any age too [hihi]

If you are a 24/7 racer than it is a different story..... But would you really want your Civic to be your everyday commuter car? Wouldn't you driving it everyday increase ware of your high-performance parts?

You have listed a lot of stuff you replaced... why makes me wounder.

You took out most of the crappy stuff from the car and replaced it with high-performance parts.. which is cool... but when you bought the civic you PAID for those parts. Wouldn't it make more sense to buy original car that came with quality parts... and not buy a 20K car.. strip it... and replace its parts.. thats just stupid.

He did.

We must defend our purchase guys.. we must unite and fight minorities on this board who pose a threat. We must segregate them where they belong.

Show me a car that runs 12's NA and can corner over a G on the skid pad for less than 20K brand new and I will buy it........Good luck

So if I bought a 318ti ripped the motor out and stuffed an M3 motor under the hood its a "stupid car"......your lack of vision is what keeps your mind so narrow.....they are called UPGRADES for a reason......stock cars are made with mass produced parts which many times have compromises made to cut costs....eliminate the cost cut parts and replace them with a higher quality piece and you have just raised the bar for the vehicle......

I drive it everyday because I have chosen to. The only wear items I would have to be worried about will eventually be replaced anyway.....when the cams come I will also be changing the valve springs, valves, retainers and ECU.....when those cams are in I will definitly want to limit miles....right now the drivetrain I have should go 100K easy....it has 17K so far....The M will eventually be my daily about 1-2 years from now and the cams should be in by the end of next summer....maybe 10K miles on the cams by then....they should be good for at least 50K before losing significant lift and duration to the point of needing replacement.

Plans for the M are in the air .....dont know what year I will go with by most likely a 99 with a fresh motor, bored over, larger cams, ti exhaust, better LSD, lighter fly, carbon/carbon clutch..... later on I will decide if thats enough power or if boost will be neccessary....perhaps a TT setup with the twin ball bearing T28's.....quick, fun and oh so sexy...Hartage is a company I love very much...their ideas and willingness to push the envelope are pretty impressive.....

I am not one to be satisfied with slight upgrades.....they always leave you asking for more, its a shame the bug has bitten you yet....its alot of fun when you consider the possibilities

push you have no damn clue.

First he started defending his honda after you started throwing that trolling ricer question at him

second hondas are damn reliable and sometimes better than bmw

third you must not do anything but get a life. "We must defend our purchase guys.. we must unite and fight minorities on this board who pose a threat. We must segregate them where they belong." .... what did you smoke????????? is this your personal call for dictatorship or what? oh and btw, when you want to defend minorities, defend him, he is on his board the minority. that is so senseless....

Fourth, why did he take a civic and out all that money in it while a bmw is already that good??? now again the question, what did you smoke? 13.6 sec for a 1/4 run ain't that bad, i think your vert won't make that! furthermore civics are very famous for being used as race cars. they are cheap in maintenance and easy to fix. bmw's are not.
bmw is a very fine brand, but for god sake wake up and start thinking. bmw is not the only brand that is good and will surely never be. get a life god damn it!

I can't believe I missed this thread.

As most people know, I am usually the one to chime in for restraint in these endless anti-ricer tirades, and being an NSX and BMW owner I usually have the clout and knowledge to do so. I move between both worlds easily, and use the same name on AcuraWorld, nsxprime, m5board, bmwboard and bmwchannel.

QuickCivicGuy is an asset we need on this board. He has more practical experience and car knowledge than many of the people here, including myself (although I probably know more useless technical/magazine data).

If he can get his civic to run a 13.6, you should respect that. Drag racing may not be your thing, but if you pay attention he is a drag racer by default, not choice, and has apparent skills on a road course.

I know this is a bulletin board, and some of us live for these little chances to show our superiority, but please try to use a little tact in the future.

It is one thing to jump on the guy who talks a lot of sh!t and is just trolling for a flame war, but QuickCivicGuy is here for a legitimate reason.

BTW, you probably want to find another source for M Coupe opinions. I haven't seen much real world experience with the M Coupe on this board. I haven't driven one.

Great car, the M Coupe. I don't know if you can fit an M5 V8 in there. There were some M-roadsters with 4.4 liter V8s from the 540i made by one tuner or another (AC Schnitzer?) but it seemed like a very tight fit. Of course, the M5 V8 may actually have easier packaging than its smaller cousin, but one would assume larger displacement comes with larger size.

You could supercharge that 540i engine to a reliable 400-420 hp. at the crank. Personally, I think you would be better off looking for a 2001 with the E46 M3 engine, or supercharging/turbocharging the 2000 or older S52 US engine, which makes 350 no problem and 400 without much additional work.

As for the original topic, depends on what kind of modification. Some actually improve reliability. If you don't do what is necessary to make the power safely, you will have problems.

I was going to stay out of this one as well, due to some of the closed minded comments. Most of which are not even worth responding to. Pushakov, you're a narrow-minded moron. What does, "minorities on this board who pose a threat" suppose to mean? The only one here that needs to be "segregated" is you! You reflect the type of attitude that I as a forum member am embarrassed to be associated with. You whine about everything and nothing. Get a life.

I own a BMW, big deal. I also own two Honda's, and a Datsun 240z. I love my other three cars as much as my BMW all for different reasons/uses. You act as if BMW is the only car in world worth driving and any other car inferior. You have a lot to learn about a lot of things so you would be better off keeping you’re mouth shut and fingers off the keyboard.
