Dude, clearly I wouldn't say that to my dad. But no chance in hell my dad is going to go for a cruise in my car any time soon. I know how he treats his car, and I'm not going to allow my car (that I love so much) to go through his driving treatment. For example, when I had my Jetta, I gave him a ride to work once and he left an empty coffee cup, his electric shaver, and some left-over breakfast...all without me noticing it. My mom and brother can't drive stick shift, so they don't touch my car. I take superb care of my car, I care for it ridiculously well and I feel that nobody in my family deserves to drive my car but me. I put in all the hard work to keep it looking clean (inside and out) and running nice...none of my family members deserve to put miles on my G35C.
my parents bought me my Civic. Never had an allowance either. Just asked for what i wanted and they got it. I think it worked well b/c I knew never to abuse it. I had some stuff, but never as much as a lot of other kids. I wore Target clothes pretty much up until college (then my g/f showed me how Banana Republic clothes on sale cost as much as Target). I think I'm the only kid who ever took the parent's "You don't know how hard it is to make money" speech to heart. Maybe it's cuz they took me to work with them while I was growing up so I saw how hard my dad works.
I don't mind if my parents drive my car. I leave the keys there anyways. They won't touch it though (even the Civic that they paid for) unless it's just to move it over one spot or something. They surprisingly respect that it's my car. Maybe it's cuz I yell at them for driving too fast, or not wearing their seatbelt, or not slowing down when coming up our driveway. Geez, I think I'm the nag in the family. No, that would be my mom.

Why wouldn't I say that?.. because I am not that kind of a person. So big deal if it's MY car.. if someone wants to feel the driving experience of a BMW, I would let them (of coarse if I trust them and with me besides them). Even though I insisnt on paying the bill, ... my parents can drive it as long as they follow my car "rulez" and not make it an inconvinience. We used to go drinking all the time in Ottawa. My sister went to school at St. Lawerence University, and I was stationed in Ft. Drum for a while. As for that comment, my nephew is almost as old as her. She just looks a lot older than she is, and that is what we call "jailbait" (no offense Anna). That would definately classify as both low, and wrong both morally and legally.
