We did get the S8, just not a manual transmission S8. You can buy a 2001 for low fifties. I have seen several on the street and at the dealer.

Ronin is the king of the modern car movies. The MB 450 SEL 6.9 from the movie was for sale not too long ago. Lots of torque. Worst part about that movie is the chase scene with the E34 M5. You can tell the driver is lifting off the gas as he weaves throug traffic just to make it look like that poor little Citroen could keep up. And to top it off they destroyed the car.

I was gonna create a new topic about Ronin, but it seems most of you already know of it. And actually the M5 was not destoryed! What they destoryed was a 525i, I read it in an article. Even in the movie you can see them going back and froth from M5 to 525i. The director of Ronin is a BMW fan as well and did not want to destroy an M5. [driving2]. But yeh that movie has some sweet cars that are not available here.

I am aware that the car shown upside down and in flames is not the M5 being shown in the chase scenes. When I said it was destroyed, it was within the context of the movie. In the movie, the M5 is destroyed, but in reality they switched it with something else so they didn't have to blow up an M5. Perhaps it was a 525i, (and if that is what the article said, I have no reason to dispute it) but since this is Europe I don't know why they wouldn't have used something else, like a 516/518/520.

As for the director being a BMW fan, he sure didn't create a movie that was pro-BMW. The arms dealers show up in an old E32 7 series, which is shot to bits, and then we have to suffer the indignity of watching the POS Citroen catch the mighty M5. Our 'heroes' drive an MB and an Audi.

Heh, that is in the context of the movie ;), if he gave our "heroes" BMWs they would have been destoryed! lol I agree about the Citroen cathcing the M5 is not right (i think it was a peugeot actually) but they were going through traffic, it was not like a drag race. But whatever, its still a cool movie.

Yes, it was a Peugot 406. I don't know why I keep thinking Citroen.

Even through traffic, the Peugot would have been pwnd by the M5.
